What is a postpartum doula?

A postpartum doula is a professional who is trained to understand what new babies and their families need. To put it simply, she cares for you so you can care for your sweet new baby. She provides you with practical, emotional and informational support after childbirth or adoption to help you achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible. Though she generally focuses on providing support after your baby arrives, you can typically expect to meet with your doula at least once before you deliver or bring your newborn home.

How do I book your services?

I'm thrilled you're interested in working together! To get started, schedule a free consultation where we can discuss your goals, talk through any questions you may have, and talk about package options. If you select me as your doula, from there I will send over a contract, collect your retainer fee, and get excited about meeting you and your new addition!

What areas do you serve?

I provide postpartum doula services in Sacramento, CA and surrounding areas such as Tahoe Park, Curtis Park, Land Park, Midtown, Downtown, Elmhurst, Carmichael, Rancho Cordova, Arden, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, the Pocket, and Elk Grove. Don't see your neighborhood listed? Let's chat!

Who can work with a postpartum doula?

I believe that ALL families of newborns would benefit from support! Whether you have given birth, are a single parent, or had your child via surrogacy or adoption, you deserve care and it would be my pleasure to work with you.

Do you accept insurance?

Currently, I can accept Carrot Fertility benefits. Unfortunately, I am not able to accept other types of insurance at this time but hope to be able to accept in the near future!

Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?

Absolutely - all families and identities are beautiful! As a member of the community, it would be an honor to work with you and your family.

What are the benefits of hiring a doula?

Whether this is your first child or your fourth, all families would benefit from a postpartum doula! Postpartum doulas can ease your transition during this beautiful and vulnerable time by providing emotional support, newborn education, lactation/feeding suggestions, referrals, and so much more. Studies show that postpartum doulas can improve mental health and breastfeeding outcomes for new parents.

What does daytime doula support include?

Every visit will be unique and tailored to your priorities that day. A daytime visit might include prepping some snacks to ensure you're well-nourished, tackling the dishes in the sink, talking through your lactation questions, or even just caring for the baby so you can take a well-deserved nap.

What does overnight doula support include?

While every visit will be a little different, the goal is to help ensure you can get as much sleep as possible. An overnight visit typically includes baby care like diapering, bottle feeding/bringing baby to you for nighttime feeds, and soothing. There may also be some quiet house tasks like folding laundry and cleaning bottle and/or pump parts.

When should I hire a postpartum doula?

To ensure I am available to support you and your family, I recommend reaching out and getting on my books by your 35th week of pregnancy or five weeks ahead of your intended adoption date. However, if you are further along in your pregnancy or have already brought your baby home, please contact me - I may still be able to get you scheduled!

How long does postpartum support typically last?

It depends! Some families are looking for just a handful of visits to get them settled while others are looking for longer, more frequent support. I offer a variety of daytime and overnight doula care packages and a custom option to meet a range of needs!

"From the moment Caroline walked through our door, she brought a sense of calm and steadiness that our home desperately needed. She cared for our baby with such confidence, attentiveness, and genuine warmth that we were able to truly exhale for the first time.

If you’re on the fence about hiring a postpartum doula, take it from us and do it. We are so incredibly thankful for Caroline and cannot imagine our postpartum journey without her."
